Deep strategy you can actually play in ten minutes

There's a myth that strategy games demand hours. On a phone, the good ones are built around interruption — you should be able to issue a few orders, lock the screen, and pick up where you left off.

Ironhold Command does this well because of its pause system. Nothing happens in real time unless you let it, so a bus stop is enough to make real progress. I planned an entire supply route during a two-stop train ride.

The trick to enjoying strategy in short bursts is to stop treating it as something you finish in one go. Think of each session as a single decision in a longer campaign. That mindset turns the fragmented way we play on phones into a feature, not a limitation.

Look for games with proper pause-and-plan systems and clear interfaces. Skip anything that stresses you with real-time countdowns — those belong on a bigger screen with your full attention.
